Roasted Delicata Squash with Pecans & Pomegranate
Roasted Delicata Squash with Pecans & Pomegranate
Making room for the simple pleasures of home.
It’s fall, y’all!
There’s something about autumn that makes me want to slow down, spend more time at home, and enjoy all the cozy little pleasures that come with the season.
The cooler weather, the changing leaves, the smell of something delicious roasting in the oven. It’s the perfect time to make our homes feel warm, welcoming, and comfortable.
And one of my favorite ways to celebrate the season is with healthy comfort food!
I love cooking with seasonal ingredients, especially winter squash. Delicata squash is one of my favorites because it’s naturally sweet, incredibly versatile, and you can eat the skin! No peeling required, which makes it even better.
Recently, I made this roasted delicata squash with toasted pecans, fresh pomegranate seeds, and a drizzle of maple syrup. The combination of flavors and textures was absolutely delicious. It’s colorful, comforting, and feels a little fancy without requiring much effort.
But before we get to the recipe, I want to share something I’ve been thinking about lately.
Making Time to Enjoy Your Home
As a professional home organizer, I spend a lot of time helping people declutter, create systems, and make their homes easier to maintain.
But here’s something I think is equally important:
What’s the point of having a beautiful, organized home if you’re too busy to enjoy it?
We spend so much of our lives rushing from one obligation to another. Work, errands, appointments, commitments, and endless to-do lists can fill every available moment.
Sometimes we get so caught up in doing everything we’re supposed to do that we forget to make time for the things we actually want to do.
And that’s where learning to say no becomes just as important as learning to let go of clutter.
Just as we don’t have to keep every possession that comes into our homes, we don’t have to accept every invitation, obligation, or request for our time.
Our schedules can become cluttered, too.
Every time we say yes to something, we’re also saying no to something else. Maybe it’s a peaceful afternoon at home, time to work on a creative project, or simply having enough energy to prepare a delicious meal instead of grabbing something convenient.
Creating a home that supports the life you want isn’t just about organizing your belongings. It’s about being intentional with your time and energy.
And sometimes that means giving yourself permission to stay home, put on some music, and enjoy cooking something wonderful.
Healthy Comfort Food for Cozy Fall Days
Comfort food doesn’t have to leave you feeling sluggish or weighed down.
I love finding ways to make nourishing, wholesome meals that still feel indulgent and satisfying.
This delicata squash recipe is a perfect example. The roasted squash becomes sweet and caramelized, the toasted pecans add a rich, buttery crunch, and the pomegranate seeds provide little bursts of tart, juicy flavor.
A touch of maple syrup brings everything together.
It’s simple enough for a weeknight dinner but beautiful enough to serve at a holiday gathering.
So clear a little space in your schedule, turn on some music, and enjoy a cozy evening at home.
Because an organized home isn’t the ultimate goal. A happy, fulfilling life is. And sometimes happiness looks like a delicious plate of roasted squash on a crisp fall evening.
