Prime Day Deals
In honor of Amazon Prime day, I wanted to share some of my favorite organizing products. As I’ve learned about these products over the years, and seen them used properly, it’s always been like someone turned on a lightbulb. It’s been so satisfying to see how they can really help everything click together and make systems work!
Before I share my favorite products, I must say, it’s always best to sort and declutter first, and then use the organizing products you already have before buying anything new. Sorting and decluttering will help you figure out exactly what you have, and it will help you better visualize the products you might need. Using what you already have will prevent you from over buying things you don’t need. But sometimes it can be really hard to sort and declutter without a few simple products. Simple containers like cardboard boxes, or even Ziplock or brown paper bags, is a really good place to start. If everything is all over the ground or stacked on top of each other, appropriately spaced shelving units can help you utilize vertical space so you can comfortably move around. Beyond those organizing basics, I wanted to share a few other products that can really solve some organizing dilemmas.
If you want to keep a clean house, you've got to be able to find the right tool for the job! These hangers are great at holding brooms and mops and don't require screws.
I found out about these through one of my clients. She absolutely raved about them! They are modular so you can use one on it's own, or stack a few together. I love that they have doors in the front so you can easily access all your goods.
Acrylic shelf dividers for closets
If you're someone who likes to store clothes on shelves, these shelf dividers do a great job of helping keep your stacks neat and tidy.
I love this label maker! I have one for in my home and one in my organizing kit that I bring on-site. Labels make it so easy to find what you need (and know where to put it back when you're done!).
Everyone knows that my top choice for pullouts are Shelf Genie products! But if getting a custom solution isn't in the cards for you, see if you can get pullouts that are commercially available. They come in all different sizes, so do some measuring and a little research to see what will fit your space the best.
Using the vertical space under the sink can be tricky due to the plumbing. There are several variations of under the sink organizers that make it possible to get organized despite inconvenient obstructions. Shelf Genie also makes great custom solutions.
You can use boxes within drawers or make your own creative solutions to divide up the space. Or you can use commercially available drawer dividers. They come in different heights and depths, so make sure to measure before making a purchase.
As much as I love using what I/you have, I'm always excited when I have an assortment of little containers to choose from. These are great for office supplies, hardware, cosmetics, craft supplies, and I've even used these in the kitchen!
These can be a little tricky to find the right use for, but when you do, they're so worth it!
Sometimes you need to separate things on a shelf, but not the whole shelf. These risers are great for adding a little vertical storage without having to stack too many things on top of each other.
These come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. They come in plastic, acrylic, metal, and bamboo. Some expand and some don't. Assess how many spices you need to store, how much space is available, and take a look at what's available.
Don't you just love those videos on Instagram where someone's found a perfect use for these turntables? I find them so satisfying. Sure, a circle doesn't usually maximize space, but it does make it much more convenient to access what you need. They are especially great in corners.
We've all been there. Trying to access a water bottle that's behind all the other water bottles. Or saying hello to a water bottle that's been lost in the back of a cabinet for years. Organizing water bottles horizontally makes it much more convenient to find what you need. These also come in different sizes, so measure your cabinet before making a purchase.
Wire dividers for pans or lids
Instead of stacking pans or lids on top of each other, try using a divider rack so that you can easily grab what you need. Although storing things this way usually takes up more space than stacking, you make up for it with the ease and convenience of not having to clank together a bunch of loud heavy pans to cook your dinner.
Motion sensing under cabinet lights
Lights! Yes lights make a HUGE difference when it comes to organizing! If you can't see well enough, you're likely to get frustrated, and just throw things where you think they belong rather than calmly and cooly putting them where you know they go. Proper lighting on it's own can drastically help you improve your organizing habits.
You didn't think I'd finish this post without putting in a plug for a good shredder! I've happily lugged my heavy duty Fellowes shredder to many of my client's homes. Cheap shredders jam often, overheat quickly, and always seem to be full. Spend a few extra bucks and get a good one. Even if you think you don't have a lot of shredding to do, it pays to have a reliable shredder.
