Meet Danica!
As many of you know, Sara joined Seattle Sparkle earlier this summer, and she has been having great success helping clients get organized. She’s been able to take on multiple clients a day, and even works on nights and weekends! But to accommodate the scheduling needs of our expanding client base, we knew we needed to hire an additional organizer. I racked my brain to think of someone that I knew that would be good for the job. Since I’ve known Sara for so long, I felt 100% confident in her organizing skills, her people skills, and her reliability. I asked her if she knew anyone she trusted as much as I trust her. She quickly introduced me to Danica! If she get’s Sara’s stamp of approval, I knew I needed to interview her!
The interviewing process went great! Danica has always dreamed of working as a professional organizer since this is a passion of hers. She also has awesome parenting skills and experience with neurodivergence, so she will be a real asset to our clients. She shadowed Sara to make sure she knew what she was signing up for, and she loved it!
About Her Background
Danica is a single mom of 4. For the past 35 years, she has worked primarily in the restaurant/catering and event planning industry. However, her full-time job was a mom, (aka: cook, server, office manager, event planner, organizer, teacher, counselor, and salesperson!) Danica has lived in Seattle her entire life, minus 10 months in which she lived in Anchorage helping a friend open a business. She loves the PNW! She graduated from Central Washington University with a BA in Business Management.
On How She Came to Seattle Sparkle
Sara and Danica have worked together in the catering world for over 20 years. There are very few people who I know that work as hard as Sara does. She told me that when Danica was on the job, she knew they were going to have a good day. Danica is super reliable, a hard worker, and a great problem solver. These ladies are a dream-team! They are both super hard workers and very productive, but they also make the work fun! So when I asked Sara for a recommendation on who she wanted to bring on, of course, Danica was her top choice!
About Being Organized
Danica is the person her friends turn to for help in most any situation from organizing, cleaning, clean-outs, arranging, moving, advice on relationships, work conundrums, and general advice on life. She’s the one in her family and friend groups that plans events, vacations, and logistics. Danica helps take care of her father and other special needs family members, and helps her family members with cleaning and organizing their homes. She grew up in a very organized house, but she said her room was a disaster. She learned how to get herself organized, but she’s got a very balanced approach to organizing. She told me, “I like to keep most spaces in my home clutter free, but I do have a few places that I don’t worry too much about, as it’s nearly impossible to have everything in place at all times!” Danica likes organizing because it’s something that gives her a sense of calm and satisfaction. Just being able to see and feel the change and how it incorporates a more sensical approach to the way someone needs things to work is rewarding for her. She enjoys organizing most anything, from a single drawer, to entire homes. She’s an expert on home reorganization to accommodate different stages of life.
What Makes Her Unique
“I think what makes me unique is my ability to listen. I often have friends or even people I’ve just met tell me I calm them down, or have a very calming energy about me. I seem to be the friend everyone calls when they need a good listener and a good dose of the truth. I’ll tell them things others necessarily won’t, but in a caring way. I want to see everyone happy in the long run. There’s no reason why we should be living our lives in ways that don’t serve us for any extended amounts of time. Do what makes you happy!”.
On Neurodiversity
Danica has a few family members who are special needs or bordering on ADHD. Growing up with them in her life has really been a blessing! She’s learned that everyone around us has so many wonderful qualities and shine in their own unique ways. We all have strengths and weaknesses, all of us!
For Fun
Danica is someone who goes on any adventure, rarely says no, and loves to be spontaneous. Her hobbies include quality time with friends doing just about anything; cooking, visiting, walking, rollerblading, hiking, biking, playing games, traveling, exploring new towns and cities both locally and internationally. She also enjoys doing small DIY projects at home. As a single mom of 4 kids for the last 15 years, she’s learned how to fix all kinds of things. She loves to try new things, and will do just about anything at least once!
