Book Review:  The Instruction by Ainslie MacLeod

Are you living in alignment with your soul’s purpose?  According to the teachings of Ainslie MacLeod, to find out who you are, it is imperative to find out where you’ve been.  We are all here to learn specific lessons, overcome certain fears and accomplish distinct missions.  To find out what these are, Ainslie suggests meditations so that we can tune in to our spirit guides.

I had the fortunate opportunity to listen to Ainslie speak live from the East West Bookshop in Seattle, WA.  At this event, Ainslie invited the crowd to tune in to one of our past lives.  He started by serenading us with his lovely rendition of “Imagine” by John Lennon, on the Ukulele.  (Of course I have now added “learn Ukulele” to my never ending list of hobbies).  He invited us to open up to knowledge from a past life and asked us to visualize what we were doing.

In this life, I think it was about the 1970’s, and I was a plumber.  My job was to unclog drains and help educate customers on how to prevent future clogs.  My mission was to allow water to flow.  In this life, I can continue to fulfill this mission by maintaining my own internal sense of flowing energy through the process of making art and communication.  My duty is to teach the importance of self-care.  For our own energy to flow, we must prioritize our own needs, just as we need to maintain the plumbing in our homes, so that we can consistently have clean, running water.
